Marketing & Social Media Volunteer

 Purpose of Role  

To support the general promotion of Daybreak through social media and marketing – helping to source new advertising opportunities and to broaden and diversify the charity’s reach.  

 We are keen to recruit a small team of volunteers able to offer a variety of support to develop a newly created marketing and fundraising division for Daybreak.  

Main activities and projects  

  • Source and collate viable places for advertising across our geographical regions together with national opportunities – such as professional networks, groups or community places  

  • Promote key training, event and job opportunities to help increase uptake  

  • Create and manage campaign materials for social media – such as fundraising, awareness raising, thought leadership.  

  • Scheduling social media posts and helping to realise an effective comms plan   

  • Copywriting for news and advice articles  

  • Website maintenance & updates  

  • Creation/drafting/proofing of marketing materials, including where possible, translation or creating accessible versions for different audiences  

  • Other general promotion activities to help broaden Daybreak’s reach 

  • Skills in illustration would be welcomed to help create a unique set of visuals for the charity to utilise across marketing  

Projects will be managed as set tasks, to allow a volunteer to have a sense of ownership over them and manage their time flexibility for the benefit of both the volunteer and the charity, e.g. centred around a particular campaign  

Time commitments  

We welcome any and all time that volunteers are able to offer. However, we anticipate for the tasks that we would welcome support on 2-4 hours per week would be ideal. Volunteers would be able to work remotely, at home, from anywhere; via Microsoft.  

Software  

We currently use Microsoft, Canva, Buffer and Squarespace to deliver on our marketing so welcome people used to working on these systems. Access would be provided.  

Impact 

We are a few months in to have a dedicated role for Marketing and Fundraising, and as such, there is a lot of ground to cover and foundations to lay in our approach to both marketing and fundraising. A volunteer supporting our team would have an unlimited impact in supporting us to reach more people, gain diverse funding, and find new ways to support families and communities.  

Our focus as a charity is to enable families and young people to be at the centre of their own decision-making, to come together, and find solutions to challenging situations. We are at a point in our development where we are looking to expand the ways in which we deliver on our purpose; so now is a wonderful time to help be get creative, explore new opportunities, and build something together with our team!
