Daybreak to continue providing Family Group Conferences for Wiltshire Council for a further three years

We are pleased to announce the successful extension of our partnership with Wiltshire Council for a further three years to provide Family Group Conferences (FGCs) to 160 families supported by Children’s Social Services.

Since 2015, we have worked closely with Wiltshire Council to deliver FGCs to families supported by Children’s Social Services. This restorative and family-led approach brings together families and wider support networks to address challenges and make safe, sustainable plans for children. Facilitated by Independent Coordinators, FGCs empower families to lead decision-making, ensuring that parents, children, and extended family members are heard, respected, and supported.

Highlighting the impact of the service, Debbie Burns, Daybreak CEO, remarked, "We are delighted to continue our partnership with Wiltshire Council. It comes at a time when Family Group Decision Making processes, such as Family Group Conferences, are receiving increased focus nationally. As a charity founded to ensure families are empowered to problem-solve in this way, we are looking forward to this renewed focus to deepen our impact in Wiltshire.”

The core purpose of this essential service includes improving safety and well-being in the home, reducing the need for children to become looked after, and enabling children to remain within their family or wider support network whenever safely possible. Daybreak Coordinators work diligently to prepare families for conferences, helping them to work together and create practical, emotional, and safety support plans that protect children’s well-being.

Over the past decade, as a charity, we have supported approximately 2,000 families in Wiltshire, impacting child safety and family resilience.

In addition to Family Group Conferences, we also deliver Lifelong Links in Wiltshire, a dedicated service for care-experienced young people, helping them build lifelong support networks. This service utilises a Family Rights Group model and complements our commitment to supporting families and young people at every stage.

We are excited to continue expanding our impact in Wiltshire. Those interested in working with families in the area are encouraged to explore Coordinator positions or attend upcoming recruitment webinars.
