Ensuring safe support into adulthood

Gary did not have many positive family relationships and needed support in identifying safe and supportive adults who could help and guide him into adulthood.  Gary is an independent young man, however, he requires emotional support. The Lifelong Links referral was to identify what support could be available to Gary, helping him to know that after turning 18 he would not be alone, and he will always have a support network.

As a result of the Lifelong Links Celebration Meeting Gary has a future-focused plan that identifies support for him now and in the future. Gary established a link with someone to support him with his education and help him apply for an Apprenticeship. A friend was also identified, giving him someone that Gary could talk to if he needed. Those who attended the meeting identified themselves as someone for Gary to reach out to and ask any questions or just to talk to.

Lifelong Links is a service Daybreak run in specific areas. To find out more, visit our Lifelong Links programme page.
