Baby Daughter

One referral we received related to young parents and their parenting capacity, and safeguarding of their baby daughter. Both parents were actively engaging with services, as were the family. The Family Group Conference was to look at what supportive network the family could put in place with the parents to ensure that the baby’s day to day needs, development, living environment and safety were being met.

The family produced a safe, realistic, and sustainable plan, which included, help with baby supplies, toys age-appropriate, clothing, blankets etc., they wanted to ensure that the home environment was always warm, comfortable, and safe too.

The family agreed to set up a WhatsApp Group so the parents could contact family members and for family members to check in with the young parents on a regular basis.

The family agreed respite for the parents, so that they could still have time together and space. A discussion took place regarding the agreed actions that the family and parents would put in place should the couple decide not to stay together and how co-parenting would work. Children’s Social Care would remain involved currently but were planning to gradually transition out of the parents and family lives with the family support network remaining in place.
