We have been providing FGCs to a range of local authorities and other organisations for over ten years. Generic Family Group Conference Training
Our Open College Network Accredited Coordinator training:
This is a taught course, supported by experienced FGC managers and tutors, with a practical as well as a theoretical and philosophical context. Learning is supported on a group and individual basis, including face to face tutorials with a designated tutor. There is a range of evaluation methods, accessible to the practical as well as the academic learner. Participants will include potential and experienced coordinators. Our next course will commence in January 2012.
Three Day Training Programme for FGC Coordinators:
This is a skills based course which prepares participants to accept their first referral and facilitate the process. Daybreak is a partner in the Family Rights Group promotion of Accredited Coordinator training with the University of Chester.
An Initial Introduction to Family Group Conferences Workshop:
This can be either one day or one half-day and is appropriate for anyone who may be involved in the referral, management or participation in FGCs.
A Workshop for FGC Referrers and Service Providers:
This gives practitioners and the their managers knowledge about the process and confidence in having the necessary skills to undertake their role in this process and to understand the agency role in responsibilities.
Family Group Conferences for Adults
A one day workshop for agencies and professionals who are considering using FGCs to address issues concerning vulnerable adults, such as elder abuse.
Domestic and Family Violence/Abuse
1. For Coordinators:
A one day workshop to enhance skills and knowledge of using FGCs to address
domestic violence.
2. For Agency Representatives:
An introductory workshop for agency representatives considering using FGCs to
address domestic violence.
3. For Agency Representatives:
A half-day ‘basic awareness of domestic violence’ workshop and its impact on
our work.
4. For Agency Representatives:
A full day workshop – presenting similar material to the above, but with more time
for reflection, simulation exercises and discussion.

- Initial consultation about the FGC process and local implementation of the model
- Advice on the development of FGC policy and procedures
- Consultation on the recruitment and training of coordinators
- Help with FGC practice guidelines
Our Trainers and Consultants
All of our trainers have direct experience of coordinating FGCs and managing the process for a number of years. They work in a context that encourages reflection and learning; and are all experienced as trainers in their field.
