It’s Trustee Week - meet our Trustees

This week, is Trustee Week! An opportunity to thank those who volunteer to guide and support the direction and success of charities.

We took the opportunity to speak to a few from our Board of Trustees, to understand what it means to them to help guide Daybreak, and support us in our future ambitions.

Vic said that “Daybreak does wonderful work helping those in our society who need support. I play a very small part in that, and there could not be a better use of my time” and we are incredibly grateful for the time that every one of our Board members - past, present and future - gives.

Fellow board member, Henrietta, commented: “The work that Daybreak does enables families to find more workable solutions that put the most important voice at the heart of discussions. Daybreak enables families to find a more practical solution, designed to work for everyone, without plans being imposed upon them. I feel very lucky to be a part of Daybreak as it looks to a future growth strategy supporting more families and helping to reduce the number of young people going into care. With the right support and education, families can understand how to best support each other, without needing disruptive intervention measures.”

Lastly, we spoke to Tutu, who shared this heartfelt response: “Daybreak creates a space where families and communities can find strength in unity. Being part of the positive ripples of change and the strengthened bonds among individuals is truly heartening. I stepped into the role of a trustee driven by a belief that the family forms the bedrock of any society and also in the power of families and communities coming together to show that they care.

Daybreak's mission aligns perfectly with my values, and being part of this journey is an absolute privilege. The most beautiful part of my role is being part of a charity that champions transparency, advocacy, and community empowerment, and seeing the impact of our strategic decisions on individuals and families is both uplifting and fulfilling.

Supporting Daybreak means standing with individuals and communities that believe in creating positive change. It's about being part of a movement that empowers communities to make informed decisions. I envision a future where Daybreak's reach grows even wider. With unwavering dedication and strategic partnerships, we have the opportunity to touch more lives and inspire community-driven initiatives on an even larger scale.”
